So many Christians think that they are too ordinary for God to use them. On the other hand, there are Christians who think that they are so relevant that God can use no one but them. The truth is, He can and does use the gifts of all of His people. The Lord knows your heart and He will bring people into your life that He wants you to help, to share with or to comfort. Don't let the enemy deceive you into thinking that you do not have the knowledge, the education or the experience to do the work that He has called you to do. And do not let others try to intimidate you into thinking that you cannot or should not be doing it. Child of God, you are not ordinary, you are extraordinary. God knows that and that is why He wants to use you.
But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7
The Bible is full of personal accounts of ordinary people who were used mightily by God. The verse above from 1 Samuel shows how God used David, the youngest of Jesse's sons, to rule over His people. God gives us an insight into why he chooses ordinary people in His word.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things - and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. 1 Corinthians 1:27
We must be careful not to steal God's glory when He does a work through us. "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord".
I am the Lord, that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. Isaiah 42:8
Proud people exalt themselves, humble people can be used by God as they understand that He works through them and that any talents they have come from Him.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. 1 Peter 5:6
Do you love Jesus? Do you want to be used by Him? Then just look around you, there is a world of hurting people out there who need you. God does not choose the qualified, He qualifies the chosen and that means you and it means us. Let us go and do the work that He has called us to do.
